Assurance

Assurance

Liquid admixture for a Stronger Curb, Improved Workability, Reduced Risk of Cracking and Reduced Effloresence Formation.

Assurance is a neutral, biodegradable, lubricating liquid chemical additive designed to reduce shrinkage and cracking that can occur in low slump concrete mixes. The plasticizing properties of Assurance also contribute to easier placement and extrusion of the concrete while providing a smooth, densified surface.

Benefits/Features:

Shrinkage Control: Assurance stabilizes the concrete mix and therefore decreases shrinkage potential and related surface cracking common in hot, windy weather environments. The hydration water is held integrally in the mix (not pushed to the surface), resulting in concrete with reduced capillarity, improved workability and cohesiveness.
Improved Surface Appearance: Assurance intensifies color shades in decorative mixes containing iron oxide colorants resulting in improved appearance, uniformity and easier mixer clean-out. Streaking, shade variations, and efflorescence formation are reduced or eliminated. Increased surface wetting allows improved color retention, as well as increased adhesion of accent release colored top coat pigments.
Easier Placement: Assurance reduces voids or surface defects in the concrete placement and adds workability to the concrete with reduced troweling or finishing requirements.
Decreased Permeability: Assurance provides a volume stabilized “closed cell” concrete structure less susceptible to water intrusion. This results in decreased surface damage from continuous freeze-thaw weather cycling and increased resistance to attack by deicing chemicals.
Recommended Addition Rates: Assurance is typically added at a rate of 1-2 ounces per 100 lbs. (196-1045 ml/100 kg) of cement. Variations in dosage can be made depending on the mixer type, mix design component levels, water to cement ratio, and additional admixture requirements. The Curb Depot recommends a trial mix be conducted with actual production materials in order to determine the optimum dosage for specific set time or strength requirements. Refer to Cautions Section for additional information.
Directions: Mix concrete with or without additional plasticizers or air entraining agents to the desired consistency (See Cautions Section below). Add the required amount of diluted Assurance as needed at the end of the mixing cycle (while agitating) to produce a creamy mix consistency.
Cautions: Assurance is compatible with most other admixture types; however they should always be added separately to the mix to avoid any possible chemical interaction. For example, air entraining agents based on vinsol resin and superplasticizers based on naphthalene sulfonate are not compatible in the same admixture tank with Assurance, however, they can be added separately if needed. Assurance is miscible (compatible) with most chloride and non-chloride based accelerators, but these should also be added in separate admixture tanks if possible. As calcium chloride additions increase air entrainment levels in concrete, the air content should be adjusted downward accordingly to stay within specification (typically 6-8%) as needed. Assurance contributes to air entrainment levels. The Curb Depot recommends that any separate air entraining agent additions to the concrete mix should be reduced at least 25-50% when using Assurance and the resulting mix should then be checked for accuracy to stay within the desired level. Keep from freezing. If frozen loosen cap, lid or bung and allow solution to thaw and mechanically agitate before using. The solution will be restored and can then be used. The Curb Depot Assurance should be stirred before using if the material has set for an extended period (3-6 months).

"The Assurance is a great product. What a difference it made with our work efficiency. It made an immediate improvement with our curbing process and the final look. The finished product is smooth and the stamps are deep, I'm 100% satisfied."
~Tim Crawford, North Carolina

"The Curb Depot's, Assurance product works great. You can really make deep stamps and it trowels so much better now. Also, you can extrude a tight radius without it cracking on you. I'm very pleased."
~Gary Hartwig, Wisconsin

"We absolutely love the Assurance, it's amazing stuff. We also are very impressed with how quickly you can get it to us."
~Scott Burtnick, Ontario Canada
